Oracle on Load Generators?

Hello,
Just inherited a batch of Load generators from another group in our organization, and every generator has Oracle installed on them. It's been 2 years since I've had to build a generator from scratch, but don't believe that Oracle is required for load generators if the Oracle protocol is not being utilized, is this a correct assumption? Maybe it is required for boxes being used as data generators?
The only reference I'm seeing to Oracle in the PC Installation guide is for the PC server itself, but wanted to confirm before I strip it off these boxes.
